Mustangs Snag First Win

Sam Goodwin
The girls played an exciting game against Taft this Wednesday. After spending some time on positioning work and defensive strategy in practice, the team came in ready to work. This was a more offensive game for us than our first match, and the enthusiasm on the ice and on the bench were palpable.

Sixth former Gabby Sartori scored her first goal of the season, and our first of the game, only 2 minutes into the first period. Sixth former Hannah Cavannaugh sniped our next two goals within a minute, both assisted by third former sparkplug Ella Green.

True to form, Gabby Kirkian held us down in the defensive end while we put more pressure on Taft in the offensive zone. Ella Green rounded out her point tally with a goal 5 mintes into the period. Biz Jamieson followed up a few minutes later with her second goal of the season, assisted by Claire Rutstein. Louisa Brown rounded out the period with her first goal of the season with just one minute remaining in the second period.

The third period started off with a good battle between the teams. Biz was able to break through again after 7 minutes and put in her second goal of the game, this time assisted by Louisa Brown. Sixth former Angie Marin rounded out the scoring for Millbrook with her first goal of the season scored with only 5 minutes remaining in the game.

Taft wasn't done with us yet, though! With only 4 minutes remaining in the game, they came back and scored 2 quick goals after catching us on our heels. Millbrook then took our first penalty of the season and finished out the period shorthanded.

Overall, it was a fun and exciting game to watch!
