Melissa Sheeran '14 Featured in Sports Illustrated and Mainstreet Magazine
Melissa Sheeran '14 made headlines twice in one month, as she was featured in the December issues of both Sports Illustrated and Mainstreet Magazine for her athletic accomplishments on the ice with the SUNY Plattsburgh Cardinals.
Mainstreet Magazine refers to the former Mustang as "one of the best hockey players in the country," and Sheeran '14 has proven this to be true multiple times, including by leading her division in points scored to-date this season (28). She also led all of Division III in points (55) last season, sits first in SUNY Plattsburgh history in game-winning goals scored, and was named the Eastern College Athletic Conference Women’s West Player of the Year for 2017. Sports Illustrated also notes how Sheeran '14 "led the Cardinals to the national title" last year, a victory that was determined by her game-winning goal against Wisconsin-River Falls last March.
Sheeran '14 was named All-League during her time as a Mustang, as well as tabbed as an All-New England ice hockey player in her V and VI form years. She also earned player of the year honors in ice hockey as a VI former.
