Useful Start to the 2017-18 Season
Welcome to the 2017-2018 Millbrook Girls Varsity Squash Game Highlights!
On Saturday, we welcomed two larger schools for a tri-match to kick off our season. It was quite useful to kick of our season with a lot of Squash against some talented players. Despite not winning any matches, some real growth was seen. Olivia Garip Davies and Ava Quartararo both had some soem close games at #1 and #2 respectively. #3 Lizzie Carter never quite found her depth durting her matches, but boy can she hit some pretty Squash shots. #4 Ena Cheng jumped out to a game lead against Hopkins at #4 using her great power and diverse attacking game. Maggie McManus showed off her powerful backhand in her matches at #5. Newcomer Emily Le had a back and forth affair against Hopkins, displaying her usual great effort at #6, splitting the first two games before falling 3-1. Another first year varsity player, Zoe Acord, played #7 but never quite found the range consistently despite hitting some powerful forehand winners. At exhibition, newcomers Cici Wang and Claire Reid fought hard before falling to their able opponents. Finally, the match of the day goes to new III former Olivia Tutino. She took her Sacred Heart opponent to 5 games eventually falling 12-10 in the fifth. Great effort and poise marked her Varsity debut!
In all, there were some real positives and we are excited to get back to work next week!
