Exciting Home-Opener

The Mustangs were excited to play a historic rival, Portledge School, in their home opener. Millbrook and Portledge have not played against each other in close to a decade, but the schools share a long history on the ice. The girls drove hard to the net in the first period and their efforts paid off in an early 2-0 lead. The Mustangs lost their edge in the second period and went down 5-2. The girls hit the ice hard at the beginning of the third and tallied three goals in the first seven minutes. Portledge broke the stalemate with a scrum in front of the net. Millbrook pulled their goalie for the final two minutes, but were unable to keep the puck in the offensive zone. Portledge sealed their win with an empty net goal. Tonight's game was one of highs and lows. The girls saw the rewards in front of the net and learned that you can't waste a single shift in this league.
