Mustangs Roll TP

Coach Reiss
The Squash Mustangs opened the season today on the road against TP.  With a lot to prove, having lost to the boys from Pawling twice last year, the boys were cautiously optimistic. 9 varsity boys competed, the top 7 of consequence, with evens up first. Dylan (#4), Sam (#6), and Zack (#8) all played well and won easily in 3 games. Isaiah (#2) drew a top Egyptian recruit who played #1 last year. Although he made it competitive and performed extremely well, he dropped his match in 3 games. With the score 2 - 1 for the visiting team at the turn, the odds took the courts with the match on the line. Once again, the middle line up were strong with decisive wins by Teddy (#5) and Bud (#7) who both won in 3 quick games. Captain Rjay (#3) also had little trouble with his opponent winning in 3. Although the team match had already been secured, Yassin (#1) was in a battle against the younger brother of Isaiah's opponent. After winning the first game easily, the new Mustang freshman phenomenon, dropped the second game 12-10 after a contentious "no let" call. Yassin kept his cool and with a brilliant display of shot making and deception, dominated the next two games to finish with a 3-1 victory giving the Mustangs a 6-1 season opening win. Colin (#9) also notched a nice 3 game win in the last exhibition match.
The boys head to Canterbury next Wednesday with an undefeated season on the line.
