Four Mustangs Sign Letters of Intent to Play at the College Level

Four Mustangs signed letters of intent to play athletics at the collegiate level this morning.

Please join us in congratulating JonJon Conahan ’18 who will be joining the Division I Penn State Nittany Lions baseball team, Zach Taylor ’18 who will be joining the Division I men’s lacrosse team at St. Bonaventure, Nick Brode ’18 who will be joining the Division I Quinnipiac men’s lacrosse team, and Kasai Brown ’18, who will be joining Saint Michael’s College Division II men’s basketball team.

Baseball

“Signing this letter marks the culmination of JonJon’s hard work over the past three years at Millbrook,” says Millbrook Head Baseball Coach Robb Arndt. “JonJon has been clear in his goals and purpose throughout his time as a Mustang, and I am thrilled that his dedication has paid off.

JonJon has racked up multiple accolades and impressive stats during his time as a Mustang. During the 2016-2017 season JonJon posted a .435/.544/.826 slash line on the season and lead the Mustangs in AVG, OBP, SLG, OPS, HRs, runs, 2Bs, and BBs for the year. He was selected to the USA Today All-USA New York Baseball Team and was named All-American by the American Baseball Coaches Association / Rawlings. “PSU is getting a young man who will be an asset to their baseball program and community for the next four years,” says Coach Arndt. “We are excited to follow JonJon’s collegiate career.”

This is the third year in a row that Millbrook’s baseball program has had a player sign a letter of intent during the early period. “We look forward to future Mustangs following in JonJon’s footsteps,” says Coach Arndt.

Lacrosse

“Nick and Zach have lead by example on the field with their tenacious work ethic and desire to improve throughout their time at Millbrook,” says Head Boys Varsity Lacrosse Coach Michael Williams. “They are young men who genuinely care about the success of the team.”

Zach is known for having both superior athleticism combined with perfect time anticipation. “He is talented and works hard, and I had no doubt that he would have the opportunity to play at the Division I level. I am thrilled for his accomplishment,” says Coach Williams.

Nick has been an offensive force for the Mustangs, with a dangerous first step and cannon of a shot that has allowed him to consistently put up 40+ points each season.

“Nick is definitely going to be an asset to the Quinnipiac team, and I am especially proud of him for finding a home where he will not only be playing at the highest level but will also be able to thrive in the community,” says Coach Williams.

Millbrook’s successful boys lacrosse program continues to send Mustangs to play at the collegiate level each year. “We look forward to following Zach and Nick’s success at the Division I level,” says Coach Williams.

Basketball

“Kasai committing and signing this letter of intent to Saint Michael’s is a testament to his natural athletic abilities and the way in which he aggressively attacks the rim on the offensive side of the ball,” says Head Boys Basketball Coach Billy Thom. “After learning, essentially, how to run and jump again after a debilitating knee injury, Kasai progressed considerably as a basketball player the second half of our season last year and throughout the spring and summer. He always had the stated goal of earning a full scholarship via his basketball talents, and he has achieved that goal. Many congrats to Kasai on earning this scholarship, as the honor is well deserved!”

National Letter of Intent signing week is always an exciting time for Millbrook, and we could not be more thrilled for Connahan ’18, Taylor ’18, Brode ’18, and Brown ’18. Click here for more information about Mustang athletics or here for our online photo gallery.
