Mustangs of the Week - October 30, 2017

Girls Varsity Soccer, Gabby Sartori '18
Gabby has been an enormous asset to the team this year, and as he has been a driving offensive force as a midfielder. Besides taking the majority of our corner kicks, her individual foot skills provide a level of creativity that often throw-off any defender that she goes up against. Gabby also has an exemplary work-hard attitude, and it paid off this past weekend against Sacred Heart when she scored the game-tying goal. Well done, Gabby!

Football, The Entire Team
The entire football team demonstrated how ferocious Millbrook can compete in Saturday's game against Pomfret. Even though the scoreboard showed a Millbrook loss with a score of 20-16, that score did not reflect the superior cohesiveness and determination of the Mustangs. This was the lowest scoring game for Pomfret this season, and the closest margin they have won by. The Mustangs maintained both competitive spirit and exemplary character both on and off the field throughout the entire game, and their strategy and skill resulted in multiple Pomfret setbacks. At the end of the game, the Mustangs’ jerseys were heavily marked with grass and dirt stains, and some torn, while the Pomfret uniforms looked like they were brand new.

Varsity Field Hockey, Ava Quartararo '18
Ava has been a strong contributor in Millbrook’s midfield this season, and a great on-field leader. She has shown her mental flexibility and versatility when asked to play multiple positions over the course of the season based on the needs of the team, and has yet to back down from a challenge. Her leadership has allowed her teammates to step up on and off the field, and she is constantly finding ways for everyone’s strengths to be utilized and included.

Girls Cross Country, Cindy He '18
Cindy had a big week in cross country. She doubled down in our training, especially our hill and speed workouts this week, and as a result she ran her two best races of the season: running 25:29 at Kingswood Oxford, taking 11th in the race, and helping cement Millbrook’s wins over K-O, Christian Heritage, and Foreman. She ran under 26:00 at our senior day race at Berkshire as well, passing and out-sprinting a Gunnery runner in the final 200 meters, and coming in 4th for Millbrook overall. Great work this week, Cindy!
