Boys JV soccer earn their first win at home

The Millbrook boys JV soccer team found themselves playing at home against Rumsey on a crisp fall afternoon. Following a 4-0 loss to Suffield at home on Wednesday, the 'stangs were eager to show what they could do on their home field. Brook started the game well–gaining a fair amount of possession in the attacking third. Apirith was the first to put his name on the scoresheet from a ball crossed into the box. Jacob Domber almost made it 2-0 shortly after with a left footed shot that just went wide off of a breakaway. Rumsey received a ball over the top to tie it back up at 1-1 before Halftime.

'Brook came out strong in the second half with plenty of fresh legs. Jason Ruszokwsi put one away shortly into the second half to make it 2-0, much to the pleasure of his friends from hockey in the crowd. Rumsey was quick to answer back finding the back of the net. 'Brook shifted into the next gear toward the end of the game–Connor Bressette sprinted the whole length of the field and got a ball in the box that just avoided Cheese's head. Fortunately, Noah Schwartz was there to pick up the pieces. He diced a defender on the endline and then found Cheese again for a shot that the goalie almost prevented from crossing the line.
The 4th and clinching goal for 'Brook came from Nick Sosnow, who promised to "score the game winning goal" before going into the second half. He bravely stepped up to a free kick and loafted one to the far upper 90 for a spectacular free-kick goal that got the whole Millbrook bench almost running onto the field. It was a beautiful way to finish the scoring, and Millbrook was strong defenseively to prevent any more goals from going in–particularly Bud Fisher, Marc Belak, Zach Abdeen, Jake Lockwood, and Henry Frankenbach. Millbrook heads to Williston Northampton on Saturday for their second game in a row!
