Warner Gallery features Confluence, Works By Faculty

Confluence, Millbrook's annual visual arts faculty exhibition, opened on Friday, September 7th.

This year's exhibit was dedicated to good friend and longtime Millbrook employee Ted Lindsay, and featured a variety of works including:

- Abstract oil paintings inspired by the landscape (Mr. Hardy)
- Life-size portraits of Jarratt Clarke and her dog, Bill Hardy, Walker Zeiser, Emily Downs, Emily Allen, Ben Day, and Peter Lasko, which are the third set in the "Crumpled Portraits" series (Ms. MacWright)
- Oil on canvas portraits, which are part of an in-progress series aimed at exploring the myths that permeate our culture through lighting the subjects with LED light from various devices (Ms. Duffy)
- Bud vases inspired by botanical forms (Ms. Harris)

The exhibit also features works from Ted Lindsay, who worked at Millbrook School since 1999 as a nurse and was a loyal friend to the ceramics program. He learned to throw clay in elementary school, and studied with Tsu Hansen, Hideo Okino at the University of Vermont and John Mason at Hunter College. Production pottery and wheel-thrown form sculpture were his favorite ways of working, and both are represented in the show.

Confluence presents a series of conversations between faculty, past and present, and an opportunity to learn more about each faculty member and their artistic passions. This year's Confluence exhibit will run through Friday, September 29th.
