A Fantastic Final Arts Night!

Students took to the stage on Friday, May 26th, for a culminating final Arts Night event that demonstrated all that they had learned in the performing arts throughout the year.

"Our final Arts Night of the acadmic year is always exciting, but this year was especially rewarding for our dancers because they were involved in the management of the event," said Director of Dance Leighann Kowalsky. "The entirety of the dance portion of the evening was run and lead by our dance captains and rising dance captain, Emily Williams '17, Si Wei '17 & Claire Kissane '18, who were charged with wrangling other dance students, checking costumes, and handling side and back stage management for the dance performances."

There was certainly a lot to manage, as the event featured performances from the choreography students in a self-choreographed work, as well as a piece in the Bennington style of improvisation, two pieces from the 24-student Spring Dance Team, and senior solo and senior duet performances. "The student-run tech team had intricate and diverse technical cues to execute, and did so with perfection," said Ms. Kowalsky.

The instrumental ensemble performed multiple musical pieces that ranged in style, including calssical, swing, ska, classic rock. and jazz fusion.

Millbrook Voices and Third Form Chorus also performed multiple pieces, including Taylor Swift's Everything Has Changed, and Autumn Leaves.

Performance portfolio students ran scenes from series shows, including from Game of Thrones, One Tree Hill, and The Office. "These actors demonstrated nuanced and powerful performance, while also delivering a strong understanding of timing," said Director of Theater Elaine Lifter. These students also led a successful improvisation interlude, involving the entire community in a rousing round of "Freeze."

The wide range of student talent made for an exciting evening that was thoroughly enjoyed by all who attended.
