Softball Standouts in Western New England League

Two Millbrook softball players have been named to the Western New England All League team: Riley Croghan ’18 and Emma Gotthelf ’19.

As Millbrook's pitcher, Riley notched 104 strike outs with only 10 walks this season. Riley also was on fire with her hitting, collecting 37 hits in 13 games (including 19 extra base hits, 5 of which were homeruns). Riley had a hit in every single game and multiple hits in all but one. Her hitting streak extends back into the 2016 season that included 21 games in a row with at least one hit. Riley now holds many (almost all) single season batting school records – for batting average at .685, hits (37), RBIs (34), slugging percentage (1.352), and on base percentage (.707). This is Riley’s second year at Millbrook and her second time being named a New England All League player and the team MVP.

Emma played third base this year, her first year at Millbrook. Emma not only played great defense this year at the hot corner, but also was a hard out at the plate. Emma had many sacrifice bunts over the course of the season, including a few beautiful ones during the New England tournament. Emma hit .333 and her on base percentage was .500.

The team, captained by Kat Mackey '17 and Maya Holmes '17,  finished 9-4 this year, ending the season in the Western New England finals. Congratulations to the entire team for a stand-out season!
