Two Outstanding Student-Organized Performing Arts Events: Page to Stage & One Act Plays

Students delivered outstanding performances at Millbrook’s annual Student Directed One Act Plays and Page to Stage events.

Students were selected from Millbrook's Performance Portfolio course to participate in this year's Student Directed One Act Plays event which took place May 7th and May 9th respectively. Two guest directors were also selected: VI formers Valerie Tan and Christian Broughton. Selected students created and performed one act plays, which included intricate sets and dramatic lighting.

The Millbrook community also enjoyed Page to Stage, a culmination of the work of students particitpating in Millbrook’s year-long playwriting course. Students in this course devoted their year to exploring themselves as creative writers, identifying strong dramatic questions, discovering what drives character, establishing a sense of place, and ultimately finding inspiration to write their own plays.

This year's event included scripts with varying themes, including relationship challenges, family ties, athleticism and more. Guest readers were invited to participate on stage.

"We look forward to this event every year," said Director of Theater Elaine Lifter. "Not only because it is the culminating perfomance of our students' year-long efforts, but also because the audience gets a taste of the students' unique style, flavor, and voice."

The performances were enjoyed by all who attended. Visit our online photo gallery for images from the events.
