Rick McWilliams Honored by WNEPSSA and WCSOA

Rick McWilliams wore many hats during his 40-year tenure at Millbrook, and one of his many legacies is the lasting impact of his role as a coach.

As a coach, McWilliams’ vision and leadership resulted in the boys varsity soccer team earning over 300 career wins, 13 WNEPSSA Class C championships, and numerous New England Tournament appearances. The team captured the New England Championships in 2013, 2012, 2011, 2009, and 1997, and has been a runner-up finalist three times.

Given his many accomplishments, we are not surprised that he has continued to be honored and awarded since his recent retirement this past June. Since his retirement, McWilliams has received two prestigious accolades, which include induction into the Western New England Preparatory School Soccer Association (WNEPSSA) Hall of Fame and being presented with the Western Connecticut Soccer Officials Association (WCSOA) Outstanding Service Award.

McWilliams was inducted to the WNEPSSA Hall of Fame on December 4, 2016, for his 40 years of outstanding coaching, 30 years of service on the WNEPSSA executive committee, and overall commitment to the growth of soccer. He was awarded the Outstanding Service Award by the WCSOA on November 21, 2016, for his longstanding service of student-athletes.

Athletics, across all levels, continues to be an integral part of Millbrook’s mission and student experience, and it is because of the dedication and passion of coaches like McWilliams that our program continues its long tradition of teaching strategy, skill, and sportsmanship.

It fills us with pride to be able to celebrate McWilliams and his recent honors. We are grateful for his time and passion, as he undoubtedly touched the lives of many during his tenure. Please join us in congratulating Rick McWilliams!
