Girls Varsity Soccer Team Earns Bid to New England Tournament

Millbrook's girls varsity soccer team earned victory in a competitive game against Berkshire on Saturday, November 12,  earning a bid to the New England Tournament.

The Mustangs were tenacious from the beginning of the game and scored three goals within the first half.

Within the last ten minutes of the first half, Taylor Ham '17 delivered a timely pass to Suwaibatu Mohammed '19, who finished the play. Just five minutes later, Mohammed '17 went on to assist Sophia Denney '17 in scoring Millbrook's second goal by finding her open on the backpost. After Denney '17 brought Millbrook's lead up to 2-0, Ham '17 collected a supporting pass, travelled across the top of the box, and fired a bending ball into the goal. The Mustangs ended the first half in the lead by three points.

Millbrook's momentum continued into the second half, and although Berkshire was able to get onto the scoreboard, Millbrook's defensive unit quickly made adjustments to protect their goal. Co-captain and keeper Katie Bishop-Manning '17 did an outstanding job saving five of the six shots that the Berkshire Bears attempted.

The Mustangs won the game with a final score of 3-1. As a result of this important win, they have been selected as the #8 seed in the New England Tournament.

The Mustangs will compete this Wednesday, November 16, against the top seeded MacDuffie School in Granby, MA. Click here for directions.

Congratulations to our girls varsity soccer team on their strong game and well-deserved victory. We look forward to watching them compete in the New England Tournament!
