IV Formers, Peer Counselors, and Faculty Build Teamwork and Trust at Camp Jewell

For over 15 years IV form students, peer counselors, and faculty have traveled to Camp Jewell in Colebrook, CT, for shared memories, trust-building activities, and adventure.

As Millbrook's IV form grows considerably each year, the Camp Jewell tradition allows this mixed group of new and returning students to get to know each other through trust-building group activities, small group work, and challenging physical activities including high ropes courses and a climbing wall.

This experience is also a perfect introduction to the Human Development course which all IV formers are required to take. The course fosters cooperation, communication, and respect for individual differences throughout the community, and helps each student work through developmental tasks of adolescence including identity, wellness, core values, and decision-making.

Through laughing, playing, and working together, this year's Camp Jewell participants learned about unity, cooperation, trust, and teamwork, which will all contribute to their many successes throughout the academic year and beyond.
