Alumnus Ken O'Friel '12 Receives NESCAC Recognition

NESAC honored alumnus Ken O’Friel ’12 for his role in the recent success of the Bates men’s lacrosse team.

During O’Friel’s time at Bates, the men’s lacrosse team earned many accomplishments, including their first-ever invitation to the NCAA Tournament. They finished 11-6, which is the highest number of victories earned at the event in 28 years.

O’Friel certainly had a role in the team’s success. As a senior, O’Friel ranked second on the Bobcats in both ground balls (39) and caused turnovers (13). He also scored two goals, and handled face-off duties 34 times. Overall, O’Friel totaled 156 ground balls and 49 caused turnovers, scored four goals, and had three assists during his three years on the team.

He also received recognition for his achievements in the classroom, as he graduated with a cumulative grade point average over 3.50, received the Department of Athletics’ Senior Scholar Award, and also won the NESCAC Spring All-Academic honors each year as a Bobcat.

Our alumni athletes continue to make us proud on and off the field. Please join us in congratulating Ken on these outstanding honors!
