Alumni Weekend 2016

Alumni came to campus during the weekend of June 10, to reminisce about their time at Millbrook School, and to create new memories.
Alumni from the classes of 1966 and 1991, who were celebrating their 25th and 50th reunions respctively, enjoyed golf, dinner, music and dancing, and terrific company during the afternoon and evening of June 10.

On the morning of June 11, all other alumni joined us on campus for festivities, which included participating in classes, touring the Trevor Zoo, the signing of the Cum Laude book, and enjoying a tasting of alumni Chuck Rutter's '85 wine from his vinyard in North Carolina.

Following these festivities, the traditional alumni parade led the entire community into the Flagler Memorial Chapel, and Robert Anthony '65, assistant to the headmaster for external relations, welcomed everyone to the alumni assembly and presented awards to very deserving recipients. The Edward Pulling Community Service Award was presented to Dr. Julian M. Strauss '54, and Millbrook Medals were presented to John V. Frank '56, Kristyn E. Reid '74, and Daniel S. Cohen '86.

Headmaster Drew Casertano delivered the State of the School address that updated alumni on the many projects underway and recently completed on campus. This included an update on the spectacular new dining hall, and the starting of the rennovations to The Mill. The community then gathered in the Chelsea Morrison Theater to honor Rick McWilliams for his 40 years of service to Millbrook School. Having been with Millbrook since 1976, McWilliams is one of Millbrook’s longest tenured and most admired faculty members. As a coach, McWilliams’ vision and leadership resulted in the boys varsity soccer team earning over 300 career wins, 13 WNEPSSA Class C championships, and numerous New England Tournament appearances. The team captured the New England Championships in 2013, 2012, 2011, 2009, and 1997, and has been a runner-up finalist three times. As a faculty member in the art department, Rick taught Millbrook students drawing, painting and photography.

Assistant to the Headmaster for External Relations, Bob Anthony '65, alumni, parents, board members, and Mr. McWilliams' children, Trevor and Carly, all spoke to his impact on Millbrook School. Trevor McWilliams, who is working on a painting for his father on behalf of the school, also unveiled initial outlines of his work.

Following the honoring of Rick McWilliams, everyone gathered in the new dining hall for dinner, which was followed by music, cocktails, and dancing. A fun time was had by all!
