Off-Campus Programs

The school encourages its students to participate in activities which reinforce their Millbrook academic program. Among these might be international travel and language study, community service programs, outdoor adventures, scientific study, visual and performing arts programs, and sports-related programs.

Millbrook offers Vth formers the opportunity to explore academic opportunities beyond campus through School Year Abroad and several mission-based, academically rigorous semester programs aimed at high school juniors.  As in our own academic programs, the purpose of these special study opportunities is to allow interested Vth formers the chance to explore aspects of our mission through experiences beyond Millbrook: in foreign countries (including Spain and France) and closer to home at The Mountain School (Vermont), Chewonki (Maine Coast Semester), The Island School (Cape Eleuthera), the School for Ethics and Global Leadership (Washington D.C.), or the High Mountain Institute (Rocky Mountains, Colorado).

Millbrook students also have the opportunity to participate in the shorter-term programs including: American Field Service, Youth for Understanding, World Horizons, Interlochen, Visions International, Where There Be Dragons, Teton Science School, World Learning, The School for Field Studies, Putney Student Travel, Outward Bound, Carnegie Mellon Summer Pre-College Program for Theater and Acting, Rustic Pathways, Trails Wilderness, Deer Hill Expeditions, ACS British Studies, Broadreach, and Academic Study Associates at Stanford and Oxford.

Millbrook faculty also sponsor off-campus educational trips during school breaks and over the summer. Recently, Millbrook faculty members have sponsored scientific data-collecting trips to Mongolia, down the Amazon, and to Machu Picchu, and the Bahamas, as well as cultural studies trips to Cambodia, Italy, Mexico, and Costa Rica. Even the baseball and lacrosse teams travel south during spring break to warm up for the coming season.
